BONUS poem by Paul D. Dickinson

For a taste of Paul D. Dickinson's work beyond THE LAST CITY IN THE EAST,
here's a choice cut from his current playlist!

I Have Robots Doing My Work

I have robots doing my work
So I won’t skip a beat
They are programmed with
My exact pride and jealousy
And my endless desire to be wanted
I have robots doing my work
Daydreaming all day in a dazed stare
Projecting an image of you
On your bicycle onto tiny
Television screens
I have robots doing my work
They lose ballpoint pens
Drink like fish
Drive over sidewalks
Play cassette tapes
In ancient boom boxes
I have so much to do
So many hours to burn up
Between now and when I see you again
I have robots doing my work
So I won’t skip a beat
